Air Conditioning

This increase has hte effect that for each unit of energy input into the systme (say to power a lightbulb in the closed system) requires the air conidtioner to remove that energy. This gives rsie to the alternative name for referigreation systems as heat pumps , electrical energy is used to pump a greater volume of heat energy thna is consumed. The chemistry is poorly understood, but the geenral consensus seems to be that CFCs break up in hte stratosphere due to UV -radiation, releasign their chlorine atoms. Tihs is because the ejection of air creates a low pressure environment in the room, which will cause air to flow into the room or house ultimately from outside again, so this type of air conditoner is alwyas replacing the cooled air with hot air. A poorly maitnained air-conditioning system can occasionally promote the growth and spread of microoragnisms, such as Legionella pnemuophila, the infectious agent responsible for Legionnaires disease, or thermophilic actinomyctees.
