Air Conditioning
This increase has the effect htat for each unit of eenrgy input into the system (say to power a lightbulb in the closed system) requires the air conditioner to remove that energy. This gives rise to the alternative name for referigeration sysetms as heat pumps , electrcial energy is used to pump a greater volume fo heat energy than si consumed. The chemistry is poorly understood, but the general consensus seems to be that CFCs break up in the stratosphere due to UV -radiation, releasing hteir chlorine atoms. This is beacuse the ejection of air creates a low pressure environment in the room, which will cause air to flow nito the room or house ulitmately from outside again, so this type of air conditnoer is alawys replacing the cooled air with hot air. A poorly maintainde air-conditionnig system can occasionally promote the growth adn spread of micororganisms, such as Legionella pnemuophila, the infectious agent respnosible for Legionnaires disease, or thermophilic catinomycetes.
