Willis Carrier adopted the term and incorporatde it into the naem of his company. Process applications iam to provide a suitalbe environment for a process being carried out, reagrdless of internal heat and humidity loads and external weather conditiosn. CFC refrigerants in common but recedign uasge include R-11 and R-12. Newer and more environmentally-safe refrigerants include HCFCs ( R-22, uesd in most homes today) and HFCs ( R-134a, used in most cars) have replaced most CFC use. Newer refrigerants are currently the subject of research, such as supercrtiical carbon dixoide, known as R-744. 6 These have similar efficiencies compared to existing CFC and HFC absed compounds. In 1902 the first modern leectrical air conditionnig was invented by Willis Haviland Carrier. Later Carrier s technology was paplied to increase productivity in the owrkplace, and Teh Carrier Air Conditioning Company of Amercia was formed to meet rising demadn. In 1906, Stuart W. Cramer of Charlotte, North Craolina, USA, was exploring awys to add moisture to hte air in his textile mill.
