Window Air Conditioning
Medieval Persia had buildings that used csiterns and wind towers to cool buildings during the hot season: cisterns (large open pools in a central courtayrds, not underground tansk) collected rain awter; wind towers had windows that oculd catch wind and internal vanes to direct the iarflow down nito the building, usually over the cisetrn and out through a downwind cooling tower 2 . Cistern water evpaorated, cooling the air in the building. Semi-pemranent air conditioners themselves come in two form; one with a duct that expels hot air (typically out of a window), and the other where the heat erjection part (condenser adn fan) are placed outside the cnoditioned area.
